Great holiday

Sallyford23 on Sep 17, 2024

We chose here for our last ever family holiday with our 2 teenage boys. We have lots of positives. Positives - Great service, lovely grounds, food in all restaurants was lovely. Yes it can be a bit the same but that’s what you expect with all inclusive. Room was ok and clean. Felt safe in resort, even to the point whereby my husband and boys went out for day/night and I was on my own. Went for meal etc alone and didn’t feel vulnerable at all. The entertainment was good, had some great singers. Lots of dancing and good atmosphere. I do feel if it wasn’t for locals or Hispanic people, it would have been quite boring. Negatives - yes at times it’s over run with locals from surrounding areas,. Lots of them to tend to bring boom boxes and we’re not shy about surrounding your personal space. They are very loud but that’s the culture. Hotel is far away from Punta Cana, so you are limited for trips without a long travel time. I did feel that with the locals coming in for the weekend, we tended to get pushed aside. If you involve yourself in the atmosphere and with the locals then you’re fine. We engaged with a lot of local kids who enjoyed playing ball and pool. You do get a bit surrounded by them when playing pool but you just need to tell them. The beach was clean and presentable, yes the sea wasn’t clear and Jelly fish present. However they did have warnings about them, also a flag system. Disappointed about the sea. All in all the vibe at night was great. All singing and dancing. Was nice to join in with the dancing etc and not just European music. We throughly enjoyed our time. Just wish everything was open past 11pm in lobby bar.

Don't fall for the scam

Yarizol A on Sep 16, 2024

I can't in good faith recommend this resort to anyone. The only reason it doesn't get 1 star is because of the wonderful staff. First thing to mention is that this resort is located in La Romana off the highway in a remote area almost 2 hours from Punta Cana and the airport. There is nothing to see or do in the area unless you grab a taxi to the city or go to their overpriced stores. The resort has 3 restaurants (El Pescador, Le Gourmet and Il Capriccio), and 2 buffets (Las Olas will serve the leftovers from the main buffet). The restaurants are hard to make reservations for so expect to eat in the buffets most days, and the food is okay. There is no room service as advertised. The entertainment at night was good and fun, however expect to sit in the humid heat as the auditorium is open with no AC. The resort is beautiful and has wonderful gardens throughout. The staff is the best part of the entire resort (Kitty, Alfred, Angel, Yorki, Jaihson, Kelvin, Kerly, Luis Rafael), they went above and beyond to make the stay tolerable. I liked the beach and found it beautiful (not clear or blue though) and expect jellyfish. The main pool and kid pools were clean and fun. The public areas were also clean. The rooms are the worst part of the entire experience. Although the rooms were clean, we booked 2 rooms that reaked of sewege! Smelled like someone had explosive diarea and closed the doors. Speaking of doors, don't expect the doors to close properly, the bidets were broken, broken tiles in the bathroom, cracked vanity sink, thin pillows, hard beds, low cold water pressure, insects like spiders, roaches and mosquitos. Our AC's started to leak water from the ceiling and created a puddle on the entrance of the room causing my 3 year old to fall and hit her head. The staff and the corporate office I complained to had the audacity say we didn't complaint. But we called the front desk immediately and even Expedia called and spoke to Nicole the same day it happened. The housekeeping department threw towels on the floor for the remainder of the stay until we had to call again because we soaked 8 towels of water. My child almost busted her head open but at least we received free rum and an apology during checkout. Photos of the rooms attached and email from corporate with 0 resolution.
