Exceeded my expectations. Great value for the money.

This resort exceeded my expectations. The rooms: We stayed in a room with butler service. Our butlers ,Reynaldo and Eduardo, were extremely attentive and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. We had housekeeping twice a day. The mini-fridge in our room was constantly stocked with drinks, and we never came close to running out of bottled water. We had a wonderful view of the resort and had a partial view of the ocean. Activities: They have a very good dive shop in the resort complex. My wife and my mother-in-law loved their massage. Rio, one of the Star Activity staff, was great. She helped my wife and mother-in-law get their massage, let me know about an archery activity, and kept us up to date with activities going on. She was also very kind and friendly with my father-in-law, who was not able to do much. The pools are clean and well maintained. The beach was beautiful. A couple of days there was a little bit of seaweed, but that is just the norm pretty much everywhere in the Caribbean anymore. But, they did their best to keep it clean. I was impressed to see that they had a lifeguard on duty. Entertainment: I have never been to a resort with so much live entertainment. Truly exceeded my expectations. They had dancers at the pool several times during the day. Live music every night. They also had a music and dance show several nights at their replica boat. Restaurants: The food was ok. The breakfast was OK to good. The Italian restaurant and El Galeón steakhouse were very good. La Casa de la Plaza wasn't great. The Kabuki Japanese restaurant was ok. The pool side snack bar was excellent. The service at all of the restaurants was excellent, exceeded my expectations. Especially Carlos at the breakfast buffet. Having said this, the food here is still much better than any other all-inclusive I've stayed at. Staff: Top to bottom, truly special. Not only exceeded my expectations, but blew them out of the water. They do appreciate tips (and as tourists I feel we should tip), but no one ever asked for a tip. They didn't even give a hint at expecting a tip. All of them were super professional in this regard. All of them were super friendly and helpful. Room service: Evening room service did take a little bit of time. The breakfast room service was great. You leave a card outside of your room with the time frame you want it. They always got my breakfast to the room exactly when I ordered it. Misc: They don't have single use plastics anywhere (great for the environment). They have several nature areas (apiary, coral growing, mangrove area). Check out is 12 noon, but you can extend this for $20 per hour. Golf carts will take you to the other Iberostar hotels on the complex property. Bottom line: This was a great value for my money. We will definitely be back.

The bed was so comfortable. Loved the attention from our butler and housekeeping was amazing. Pools were beautiful and so clean. Loved the cabanas. The buffet was actually so good and a lot of variety of food. Weather was perfect every day with no rain.
