Majestic Elegance Punta Cana is often praised for its excellent location, with easy beach access and breathtaking views. While guests appreciate the cleanliness of the resort and the welcoming attitude of its staff, some travelers feel that the cost does not match the quality, noting that there is room for improvement in the value and upkeep of the rooms. These resort facilities, including pools and entertainment, received positive comments, but there was recognition of the potential for improved service efficiency and updates to the hotel ambience. The entertainment staff was really good, Oseas, sexy monkey, amel and Eddy .

We booked this resort based on the glowing reviews. We arrived at the hotel at 3:00 and we were given drinks, cold washcloths, and quickly brought into the "Club Lounge" where we were seated at a table and basically ignored for one hour. (Across the lobby, there was not a line for regular check in) I asked if they could give us our bracelets so we would come back when the room was ready. (It was past check in time, but we understand that things happen and I would have rather been told they were delayed with the room.) We were told to just wait. After an hour we were finally taken by our butler, along with a group of people. We waited while he took other guests to their rooms. I've seen comments about "long check-in" before but never thought a few minutes mattered. This was 1.5 hours and their process of "have your Butler check you in" was not acceptable or the norm for any resort we have been to. Exhausted from traveling then and waiting 1.5 hours for our room, I wanted to lay down. I was shocked to see that there was a fitted sheet on the bed, with simply a dirty thin white comforter on top. That was it. I tried to get housekeeping to give us clean bedding. It took a long time. I finally got the housekeeper to bring me sheets so I could make the beds myself by taking the dirty comforter off and using a flat sheet. The fact that they had no top sheet and expected guests to sleep on a dirty comforter that other guests used was appalling. The room was spacious and clean, otherwise. We asked for two beds and they were more like twin beds than full. It had a nice size balcony. The air conditioning worked well during our stay. I did not sleep well with just a sheet the first night, so on the morning of the second day, I set out to find housekeeping to resolve the issue. I kept asking them to please come in so I could show them and get clean comforters. I guess they wanted me to wait for our housekeeper? The phone to the front desk did not work. It took a while and finally when the supervisor Marisol came in, she immediately understood and ran and got us clean comforters. I explained that I wanted a sheet on top of the comforter at that point, which they did. I spoke to others at the pool and they said they never even saw their comforter, it was sandwiched between clean sheets, which is how it was suppose to be. I realize that it was just an error and they did resolve it, but it wasn't resolved the night we arrived (night housekeeping seems to be an issue, more on that later) and took until 2 pm the second day to get it straightened out. We always need basic clean room and sheets at any hotel or resort and this was frustrating to waste an entire day of vacation begging for clean bedding. Our butler Marvin was great and he kept following up. He seemed to understand that this wasn't a simple want, it needed to be corrected. Once the Housekeeping supervisor Marisol brought Aimilia clean our room and understood what was required, I requested that only Aimilia clean our room. She was amazing and when I would run into her in the hall, she'd ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything. We just needed the basics each day and she was great. I appreciated Marisol and Aimlia's help with providing clean bedding and cleaning our room. The night before we left, we came back to our room to see that the night housekeeper had made up our bed. I got nervous wondering what they might have done because I didn't want them in our room. I would have left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door if I knew they would come in. The next morning when I took a shower and reached for my towel, it wasn’t there. I didn't realize the night before that the night housekeepers took our towels off of the hooks that we had them on, and only replaced them with one towel in a different location. They took all of our washrags and didn’t replace them. I was very frustrated to get out of the shower and not have the towel. Housekeeping usually knows not to touch towels that guests hang on hooks. The night housekeepers seemed to be a problem at this resort. The beach was so beautiful and clean. The water was clear and calm, perfect for swimming in. There was sargassum but it was very minimal and not bothersome. The loungers on the beach were plentiful but a little too packed in for the low crowd levels. Every day at lunchtime they would bring grills out on to the beach and offer some food out there. We did not like the food. I would say there were not as many choices as there are with many all inclusive resorts at their buffets. The pasta and bread were okay and what we ate most of the time. We enjoyed the sit down dinner at the steak restaurant as well as the hibachi restaurant. I’d say that was the best food that we had at the resort but other than those two restaurants, we did not like the food at this resort. Restaurants would randomly close. I understand the resort was not at full capacity and that makes sense, however other resorts we have traveled to will put signs out telling guests which night(s) each specialty restaurants will be closed. One day the main buffet Flavors was randomly closed during lunch. The drinks were very good and the waitress Omairy at the adults only club pool was great. She consistently walked by taking orders and was very friendly and pleasant. We were hoping to enjoy a morning mimosa with breakfast but we found they were never made with real orange juice. We aren't big drinkers, but that was a disappointment that we couldn't get a real mimosa with breakfast. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We loved the adults only club pool. It was so clean, quiet and peaceful. We could easily find a Bali bed with loungers each day. The loungers were incredibly comfortable. The pool was very clean and at a great temperature. We appreciated the towel service provided by Starling. He was very helpful and we enjoyed chatting with him. We appreciated not having to keep giving a towel card. Starling, Omairy and the staff that walked by constantly understood the serenity at the adult only pools and they were not at all intrusive. The entire staff was great all around. The main pool was a little worn and tired and we did not sit over there. We heard activities going on over there and they sounded fun, but we were content at the quiet adult pool. Our butler Melvin was great. He made dinner reservations for us and was always friendly, but we did not need him often other than to try to find clean sheets and blankets. He kept following up by texting through the app the second day (the first night the app signed us out) and the rest of the stay. He seemed to understand that the housekeeping issue was a major one for us, and he kept following up. I appreciated that. The Sunrise lounge at the end of our building on the second floor was a beautiful space overlooking the ocean. It was often quiet in there and a great place to enjoy morning coffee. We appreciated that we could grab additional water or soda bottles at the lounge, and we often did. The person who refilled our minifridge in our room was great, and brought extra water bottles on request, but we liked having the ability to get more in the lounge, when needed. The theater was spacious with the most comfortable seats that we have ever seen at any resort. There were overhead fans to try to keep the area cooler. We had hoped to watch Karaoke one night but they had a tech issue with it so they could barely play the correct songs for the guests who signed up. The resort was absolutely beautiful and the service was great, but I would not return to this resort based on the very poor quality of the food and the housekeeping issue. I realize that the housekeeping was likely a "one off" but it was extremely frustrating to lose a day of vacation trying to resolve basic housekeeping needs.
